Oofos - Say What?
Disclaimer: I was sent a pair of Oofos flip-flops for review purposes only. I did not receive any other compensation for my time and my opinions are strictly my own.
A few months ago I was sent a pair of Oofos flip-flops. As I was running less in December, I have waited to put up my review until I could have the time to try them out, especially after my long runs, and give you my true opinion. I had never heard of the brand before but after some research found out that they make their shoes as a recovery shoe for runners or those with sore feet. They can be found online, in many specialty running stores and at many race expos (Disney anyone?).
So what makes Oofos different? They were created to facilitate true recovery and recharge in your feet. They have proprietary OOfoam in the footbed of their shoes that is so comfortable! According to their website OOfoam has the following technical advantages:
- Significantly more comfort, cushioning and natural articulation
- 37% more impact absorption
- Longer lasting support and cushioning
- Arch support for most foot-types
- Durable wear
- Machine washable (don't machine dry!)
So what did I think? When I first saw the shoe they weren't exactly the most fashionable, but the colors are fun and for a recovery and comfortable relax shoe they are great! I have been running a lot of miles with runs over 10 miles long and these shoes definitely keep my feet happy after taking a beating on the roads. They are kind of like walking on clouds, seriously. If you are a frequent runner or have pain in your feet Oofos are worth a try. They come in a flip-flop, clog and slide and range in price from $39.95 to $49.95. You can also choose your color combo. I went with the green because that is my favorite color and reminded me of spring.
On a scale of 1-10, with 10 being excellent, I would give Oofos a 10 on comfort level and a 6 on style points. Let's be honest, running isn't really known as a stylish sport. We sweat, have runny noses, spit on the fly and get blistered and bloody feet. Oofos is an amazing recovery shoe that I highly recommend. The bright color combos that they have right now are a hit in the running community. The brighter the better it seems. They were even featured in Fitness magazine as a great gift for runners.
If you are looking for a shoe to wear post training run, around the house or for post race recovery you should definitely give Oofos a try. When you do, leave a comment and let me know what you think!
