Nike Union Street Grand Opening
This past week I had the chance to participate in some amazing Nike events at the new women's store in San Francisco, Nike Union Street. The weekend, and this whole week, was full of free fitness events, amazing giveaways and great friends and athletes. The store itself is in a great location, with boutique stores and nice restaurants all around. There are plenty of fitness studios nearby that Nike has partnered with for different events as well.
The first class I attended this weekend was a high intensity NTC session at the Lyon Street Stairs. It was a killer leg and glute workout. Nike Master Trainer, Ryan Lauderdale, and local trainer, Jackelyn Ho, led the workouts and there were multiple rounds of stairs, burpees, planks, squats and more! It was intense but full of fun and supportive ladies and a few men! I had an absolute blast!
Saturday was a double day. I started the morning out with Run Club. Our route went through the Palace of Fine Arts, along the Marina and back to Union Street. Luckily, the route was only three miles. Between the previous evening's stair workout and the afternoon workout still to come, I was beginning to feel a bit sore. After the workout they had some Nike Training Club water bottles, towels and snacks to help us recover. Thanks Nike for the swag!
Before the afternoon NTC class I had some time to spare so I went to grab lunch at a local cafe. There are so many options for food in the area, it's the perfect one stop shop for fitness, food and shopping. After refueling, grabbing a chai tea latte and enjoying the views of the Bay, I headed back over to the store for NTC class.
I signed in for NTC and was able to trial some training shoes for the workout. One of the fun things about the store is that they offer product trials during the workouts, you can trial running shoes, training shoes, Fuelbands and Sportwatches, depending on the workout. The workout started with a short run to the workout location in the park and then we jumped right into high intensity training. This workout was non-stop action! My legs were really feeling all the workouts I had already done and the exercises were getting harder. Tuck jumps were brutal! (If you don't know what tuck jumps are then download the app or come to a live NTC class and find out) I love hard workouts because they challenge me, so this was perfect. I also was lucky enough to be one of three people who won the shoes they had trialed! I got to take home a brand new pair of Nike Bionic Trainers. Thank you Nike Women for the awesome gift!
Sunday evening they offered a weekend wind down yoga class with Nike Master Trainer Joselynne Boschen. I needed this class after all the high intensity training from the weekend. It was a tough yoga class, but I felt much more stretched out and relaxed after. We were given a pair of Nike Studio Wraps to trial before the class and were all surprised when the class ended and Nike said we were allowed to keep the shoes! So generous!
The fun continued with a Pilates class Monday night and another yoga class Tuesday. I was unable to attend these classes, but I attended the Wednesday night NTC class. This class had to be my favorite one yet. Nike kept it a surprise up until we were taken by Uber to a secret location. We arrived at a private club in the city where we were greeted by WNBA star, Nnemkadi Ogwumike! She helped lead a basketball inspired workout, my absolute favorite! I was a collegiate basketball player and it felt like I was back in college. Definitely the best workout of all. We did a lot of abs, ball handling and even some dribbling drills.
Post basketball workout we headed back to the store and were treated to a personal styling session with Jackie Rose, a personal stylist based in San Francisco. She styled Nnemkadi Ogwumike first, and then we all received a card to fill out our personal style choices. The huge surprise, we all received our own outfit based on our style choices! I even got to meet and chat with Nnemkadi a bit about basketball. This was my absolute favorite event and we were treated like VIP's! Thanks again, Nike!
Thursday night I came back into the city for another Run Club event. We did the same three mile route from Saturday morning. It was a little cooler in the city and I felt like I ran a lot faster. I don't like running in heat, so this was the perfect weather. The fog was rolling in and the views of the Bay were gorgeous. We also met Olympian and 1500m National Champion, Shannon Rowbury, who led the run. After a great run Nike of course surprised us again, all the ladies at the event will be running the Nike Women's Half Marathon in San Francisco this year, courtesy of Nike! Needless to say, we were all thrilled. As if I didn't love Nike enough all ready, this amazing weekend of events just solidified my love of their cause, product and staff. Amazing!
On Friday night Nike held a class at Soul Cylce, right next door to the store. I was unable to attend, but I hear it was also pretty awesome! I hope you have a chance to get to the city and check out this new store, the first of it's kind for Nike. Every week they have free fitness classes. To sign up and check out their schedule go to gonike.me/unionstreet. On June 2, the schedule begins as follows. Remember to sign up and reserve your spot online! These classes will fill up fast! I hope to see you there.
