New Places and Running Spaces

Working out in the same location can be stagnant. Day after day looking at the same views, knowing exactly when you have hit mile four and when you have to brace yourself to run up hill can be challenging. I have been struggling with finding new routes, which is why I always seem to run more and better when I am in a new city and exploring unknown places.

This last weekend I was in San Francisco. I get to the city maybe one or two times a month and the views, new scenery and challenging terrain are always welcome. I can run the bridge, the bay, the wharf, the city, the mission, the presidio, the places I will run seem almost endless. And the weather, I just can't get enough of the cool ocean breezes. I could live here and I don't think running would ever get stagnant.

Whether you are running, working out, cross training or weight lifting. It's important to always keep it fresh! Look for new places and new challenges. Often an hour drive is worth it for the chance to refresh your run or workout and re-center yourself.

What do you do to keep your workouts fresh and focused? Let me know in the comments!
