It's Never Over Until It's Over

This is most of all a running and fitness blog, however, if any of you watched the Seahawks vs. Packers game yesterday, you know why I had to bring football into the mix. Being from the Northwest, I am a Seahawks fan and was excited to watch the game. From the beginning the NFC Championship game looked like it would be competitive. Both teams had excellent seasons and a lot to offer. It got off to an extremely slow start for the Seahawks and resulted in 5 turnovers throughout the game and a 0-16 start to the first half of the game. The Seahawks were not doing well. They finally scored a touchdown in the third quarter with a trick play from the kicker. But the Packers extended the lead to 19-7 in the 4th quarter and with less than 3 minutes remaining it looked like the game would be a blow out.

Until the Seahawks turned it on. Scoring two touchdowns and a 2 point conversion to lead the Packers 22-19. With less than a minute remaining the Packers managed to kick a field goal and tied the game 22-22. It was now time for overtime play. The Seahawks won the toss and for the first time connected on first downs and scored the winning touchdown. Final score 28-22. Incredible. Unlikely. Houdini.

I couldn't believe it. The Packers and Seahawks could hardly believe it. My point is that the unbelievable and the improbable IS POSSIBLE.  In running, training, and in life, I often look at my goals and they seem impossible, even improbable. Dream job working with Nike (many people tell me this is impossible), running a sub 4 hour marathon, working in sports - every goal is huge and seems improbable, but that is why it is a goal. Small steps every day, every minute will get me there. No matter how many setbacks I have (my interceptions and turnovers in life), there is always a way to get back on my journey to my goals.

Remember that belief in yourself, in your goals, in your desires and what is set on your heart will get you where you need to be. Never stop believing in you, in your friends, allies and supporters. No dream is too big or too small. Remember, it's never over until it's over.
