Develop Speed with this Track Workout
Running on a track is necessary for developing speed. Surprisingly, some of my favorite workouts have been on the track. Luckily for me, I live near a track with a pretty awesome view that distracts me from the pain of pushing my speed.
This is the workout I did last week on the track. It really pushes you to dig deep - especially during the 1200's. If you need to mix up your routine give this workout a try and let me know if you feel stronger and as if you could conquer the world when you are through.
Weekend Track Workout
(90 second rest between each interval)
4x100 @ 5k pace
1x1200 @ 1/2 marathon pace
1x400 @ 10k pace
4x100 @ 5k pace
1x400 @ 10k pace
1x1200 @ 1/2 marathon pace
4x100 @ 5k pace
During the workout you will feel work, you will probably want to stop and it will cause lactate acid to build up in your legs as you push the anaerobic threshold. This is what you want! Push hard and think of how great you will feel after the workout.
