A Fusion of Fashion and Sport

It's no secret that women like fashion and that usually carries over into the fitness sphere. I love the looks that companies like Nike, Athleta, Lululemon and Under Armour are coming out with for female athletes. Not only do they present items that are fashionable and functional while working out, they also provide looks for evenings out that fuse fashion and sport together. One of my favorite looks is tights with a cute jacket, oversized sweatshirt or poncho and a great pair of sneakers. The new Nike Tech Pack collection is my personal favorite! I love all the new colors and vibrant styles of running shoes. My favorites are from Nike and are the Nike Air Max Thea and Flyknit Racer. These shoes can be duel purpose, you can go for a run and then wear them out at night and they look and feel great.

One of my favorite wardrobe looks is my Athleta Bettona Jeggings with an Under Armour Women lace tee, beanie from Pistol and Athleta, Vinyassa Scarf from Lululemon, sunglasses, my favorite grey leather jacket from BB Dakota and of course, a vibrantly colored pair of Nike Flyknit Racers! This look is great because it is sporty, functional and yet the accessories give it a little extra flair. It's a mashup or style and functionality.

I know that often staying in fashion can break the bank, so here are a few of my tips for finding great deals.

  • Shop the sales! Sign up for emails from companies you love so you will be first to know when your favorite looks are at reduced prices.
  • Shop discount stores like TJ Maxx, Marshalls, Ross and even Target! These stores often get name brand clothes at reduced prices, which means more money stays in your pocket. The female brand, Mondetta, has great looks at TJ Maxx right now.
  • Mix your current wardrobe with new trends! Wear a beanie you got from last year, a scarf from this summer and boots from two years ago. Pair them in new ways and add a simple accessory to make the look come alive.
  • Shop online and use ebates.com! It pays you to shop! Simply follow their links to stores you normally shop at and you can be on your way to be receiving 6-8% cash back on many items.

The photo above shows one of my looks put together at fairly low cost to me. I snagged this adorable and comfortable hoodie from Mondetta at TJ Maxx, the Nike Capri's were a gift from the Grand Opening week of Nike Union Street and my Nike Terra Kiger running shoes were on sale at Nike.com for 40% off! I love a combo of greys and prints, so this outfit is a win-win.

I've always been one to wear sneakers before heels, sports bras outnumber Victoria's Secret, and sweatshirts fill my closet shelves. I'm an athlete first and foremost, but even I like to look put together and combine style and function when I can.
