Join Me at the Healdsburg Wine Country Half Marathon
I was recently asked to run the Healdsburg Wine Country Half Marathon near Santa Rosa, California. Since this race is less than an hour from my house I could not pass up on the opportunity to experience this race as a VIP! After researching all of the exciting things this race offers, I couldn't wait to tell you more about it! The race takes place on October 25, 2014, just one week after I run the Nike Women's Half Marathon in San Francisco. For those of you that are counting, this race is just 18 days away! It's a good thing I am already trained and ready to run! So what's so exciting about this race? For one thing, It was voted best Destination Race in the Pacific West by readers of Competitor Magazine. That's right, the BEST destination race around! It's also a wine harvest and halloween themed race that runs through picturesque views of local wineries and autumn colored vineyards.
There is a slew of exciting weekend events like a welcome reception on Thursday, seminar, pre-race dinner at Kendall Jackson Wine Estate and Gardens on Friday, the race on Saturday (of course) and a wine and music festival to finish! For the full weekend schedule and registration packages be sure to check out the race website. Come ready to run through colorful leaves, vines and vineyards. Make sure you enjoy the picturesque views and scenery like no other. I know I'm excited to experience it. I might even run with my camera!
Some great race sponsors like, Newton Running, Zico, Honest Tea, Nuun and Clif Bar, to name a few, will be around supporting the runners, so you know it's going to be a good time! You get some awesome swag like a technical t-shirt and medal at the finish. The expo also offers vendor samples and wine tasting. The race is also a series that includes the Napa to Sonoma Half and Oregon Wine Country Half, among a few others. I have always wanted to do one of these races so it will be fun to try an event in Healdsburg and then hopefully participate in more in the future and in my home state of Oregon!
The Healdsburg Half Marathon is small, with 2500 participants, and expected to sell out soon! It's already 85 percent full. What are you waiting for? Come join me at the race and let's conquer 13.1 together!
