Air Max Day 2016 with Nike
A few years ago Nike created, #AirMaxDay. The anniversary of when the first Air Max's were designed back in 1987. This year is also the year I was born. Good things come from 1987, just saying!! This year I celebrated by wearing one of my favorite pairs, designed by a patient in Doernbecher Children's Hospital.
My Favorite Pair of Air Max
I honestly don't own a lot of Air Max, I mostly own running, training and tennis shoes. But these have to be one of my all time favorites. They just have so much meaning and so much personality. I get compliments every time I wear them and I always give credit to their child designer and her fight with disease.
These Air Max carefully remind you to "fight like a girl" and "just breathe." Both great reminders for anyone going through life and experiencing ups and downs. A shoe may not solve problems, but it sure can help!
No one knows shoes or their customer better than Nike and bringing this event around the world, even to those not living near a major city, was nothing short of epic. There were hundreds of thousands of posts on Air Max Day in tribute to the sneaker that changed it all.
Both old and new were brought out and stories were told of memories made in sneakers. Sometimes it's not about the shoe at all, instead it's about the timelessness of our own life. Memories that sometimes fade but are never forgotten because they brought us to who we are today.
Air Max are that shoe for many people. They bring back fond memories of times past and inspire hope of what is still to come. A revolution in their day, these shoes are now a memory and throwback to what once was. Both vintage and new Nike Air Max command high prices, and demand even better memories to be made.
What's your Air Max memory? I'd love to hear it. Share in the comments.
