The New Way to Wear Mittens for Runners

I first heard about WhitePaws RunMitts through BibRave. I own plenty of running gloves, but these are different and they intrigued me. These special mittens are made without thumbs. Yes, you heard me right. They envelop your whole hand in warm, snuggly fleece instead. But how do I grab anything you may ask? They have that covered too! You can simply fold the mitten down and pop your fingers and thumb out. Get too hot, simply slide the entire mitten over your wrist. An easy way to regulate temperature and not lose your mittens. Genius!

The Toddler Test

I first tested these on a snowy day with a toddler. We just had a little dusting of snow, that turned more to ice, but we tested these mitts out and loved them. They kept my hands warm and toasty during snowball fights and toddler shenanigans. When a mitten passes a toddler test you know you have a winner. Bonus - they have a pocket sewn inside where you can tuck a hand warmer. The toddler loved this by the way, anything to allow us to play in the snow longer.

The Stroller Running Test

I wondered how they would perform while running with a stroller, so I gave them a try. The good news is that you have options! There are three ways to wear the gloves and therefore 3 ways to use these with a stroller. For me, I felt like I could hold the stroller well even without my thumbs out, but it I were running downhill, I popped my thumb and fingers out of the gloves or even slid them down to my wrist for a better grip. I actually love them for stroller running because they allow for a much quicker temperature adjustment than other gloves do and the fact that I can simply pull them down to my wrist and back up as needed without losing a pair or having to stop the stroller and tuck them underneath was a game changer. These would be a great gift for the mama-runner in your life, or any mother for that matter. The ease of popping your hands in and out without having to take your gloves off is amazing.
