Reasons to Run the Hot Chocolate Run Seattle 2021

Disclaimer: I received a free entry to run the Allstate Hot Chocolate 15k/5k Run virtual race as part of being a BibRave Ambassador. Learn more about becoming a BibRave Ambassador, and check out BibRave.com to review, find, and write race reviews!

In January of 2017 I ran the San Francisco Hot Chocolate 15k and I loved it! I have been hoping to run this race again, but after having my first child and moving to Portland, OR, then back to California and now up to Washington in the last 3 years, I never got the chance. When the opportunity to run the race for Bibrave came up, I jumped at the chance. With 2020 cancelling most in-person races, I was really hoping that this one would be in person. With COVID-19 still going strong, the Hot Chocolate race moved to a virtual run, which means anyone can run it from anywhere! This actually works out great for me with a toddler and newborn around. I may even put them both in the stroller and bring them on my run.

So, why should you run the virtual San Francisco Hot Chocolate 15k or 5k with me? Here are my top 5 reasons to run!

Top 5 Reasons to Run the Seattle Hot Chocolate Run

  1. Chocolate - this is the best reason to run a race, chocolate! The race will ship the finisher chocolate right to your door. You can even eat it before your race, I won’t tell! That’s the beauty of the virtual race. Eat your chocolate and then run it off. Ha!! Or wait to the end, the choice is up to you!

  2. Jacket and finisher medal - I still wear my Hot Chocolate jacket from 2017. It’s so comfy and cozy. This year’s version has a zip-off removable hood, I’m excited to have an upgrade!

  3. Charity - St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is the charity partner for this race. It’s a great way to help out this children’s hospital and run a race.

  4. Run anywhere - It’s virtual, so you can run it anywhere. You can run in Seattle or across the United States in NYC. You can run anywhere, outside or on the treadmill.

  5. FREE Hat - Use code “BRHC20” to score a free Hot Chocolate hat when you register for any Allstate Hot Chocolate Race Series event! What a SWEET deal!

My Training

I chose to register for the 5k run. This will be my first race back after having baby Olivia and she will be almost 4 months old on race day! My first run back was today, but I hope to start running and kick my training up from 2-3 runs a week to 4 days and some cross training. We will see how that goes with a baby and a toddler! Stay tuned here and to my social media for my training journey and updates. I hope to have you join me virtually for this race! Did you sign up? Let me know!
